What Contemporary French Style Icons Wear

That French Style

What is the key to French style? One of my biggest style aspirations is to capture that Parisian vibe into my wardrobe. As we all know, je ne sais quoi is the slogan one uses when trying to decode the admirable French style and put it into words. So how do we dress like we don’t care, when actually we do? (Let’s be honest here)

I want to make a case for adding laissez-faire from the category French phrases to discovering what lies at the core of French style. The term originates from economics, referring to an economic system in which transactions between private parties are free from intervention from the government. More broadly used as ‘let do’ or ‘let be’, it means letting things happen as they are supposed to go.

Luckily this doesn’t mean letting your closet and sense of style go in order to be Parisian. In fact, French girls know exactly how to take care of themselves and their style. The point is to know your style so well, that you pick the exact right items to select your dream wardrobe. The right preparation gives you the luxury to adopt the laissez-faire approach in the end of the style process. No stress when it comes to creating outfits from your well-curated closet. That dippes your outfit in that fun and spontaneous look that defines French Style.

New French Style Icons

We all know legendary French style icons Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot. They still are one of my favorite sources of inspiration when it comes to great style. There is a whole new generation of style icons that create the new Parisienne look of today. Perhaps a little bit more influenced by the rest of the world because of the global connectedness of today’s world through social media and the ability to travel. But always with that signature and highly admirable French look.

Who are those contemporary style icons? There are established names such as Jeanne Damas, who has a great resemblance to Jane Birkin, but there are also girls like Chloe Lecareux who have made a name for themselves through social media. Their style is as least as good for a dose of French inspiration.

French Style Choices

A Parisienne seems to instinctively know which fashion items will work for her and which won’t. The same way she knows Café de Flore is where you drink your coffee. But new places and outfits appear, as what is stylish keeps changing with the flow of life.

Time to update the rules French style icons make when selecting their wardrobe and putting together their outfits. Because everybody knows you need to learn from the best.
